Isabel Lamberti and her “Last Days of Spring” won the Krakow Film Award ($ 25,000), “The Amateurs” by Iwona Siekierzyńska won Dominika Kulczyk Productions Award (PLN 100,000) and “The Getaway King” by Mateusz Rakowicz got the Audience Award. Who else triumphed at the Closing Gala of the 14th Mastercard OFF CAMERA?
The Krakow Film Award ($ 25,000) went to Isabel Lamberti the director of “Last Days of Spring” It was acclaimed for its unique combination of real life observations, poetry, outstanding acting and cinematic sensitivity.
Dominika Kulczyk Productiona Award (PLN 100,000) for the Best Film in the Polish Feature Film Competition went to “The Amateurs” directed by Iwona Siekierzyńska and produced by Anna Wereda and Karol Wrożbinski. “The Amateurs” shows a positive picture of a usually invisible community portrayed with admirable freshness and courage. It was the sincerity and hybrid nature of the film that awakened the interest of the jury.
The award for best actress went to Agata Buzek for her role in “My Wonderful Life” by Łukasz Grzegorzek. The actress created a complex portrait of a female personality full of contradictions. Her acting was brutally honest and convincing, delicate and fierce at the same time. It was a performance full of freedom and courage. The award for best actor went to Jacek Braciak for his role in the same movie. He played the part in a surprising and balanced way. This is an example of subtle, yet powerful acting.
Mastercard Rising Star Award went to Nicolas Przygoda for his role in “Everyone Has a Summer” by Tomasz Jurkowicz. - We were strongly impressed by the sensitivity which Nicolas brought to the role. His acting was impressively natural. We are eager to see his next roles - justified the jurors.
The FIPRESCI International Film Critics Association Jury in the panel of Anita Piotrowska, Colette de Castro and Petra Meterc awarded the film directed by Arab Nasser and Tarzan Nasser, “Gaza Mon Amour.” This film is a love letter to a place and the people living there, and a beautiful love story with mature characters. The Jury also acclaimed the surreal sense of humor which fills the story despite a difficult political situation.
The audience of the 14th Mastercard OFF CAMERA also awarded its prize. As the most interesting movie they chose “The Getaway King” by Mateusz Rakowicz. It is an action comedy inspired by a true story of Zdzisław Najmrodzki, the legendary underworld celebrity.
The National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers together with post-production studios: Chimney Poland, Coloroffon, DI Factory and Fixafilm funded the KIPA Debut Producer Award, which was presented for the seventh time during the Festival. Three producers were awarded this year: Marta Habior for “Dolce Fina Giornata,” Anna Wereda for “The Amateurs” and Marcin Ostatek for “Scandal.”
Once again, prizes in the "#63” competition were presented. The first prize went to Zuzanna Woińska, followed by Adam Tusień and Oliwia Weber. Onet Special Prize went to “Tymczasem u Magdy” by Jan Ochnio.
