Jesteśmy już kilka godzin po 94. rozdaniu Oscarów i jak co roku mamy więcej zaskoczeń i spełnionych przewidywań. W tym roku mieliśmy bardzo mało filmów, które wygrały więcej niż jedną statuetkę mimo, że w nominacjach takich filmów było aż 21!
Wspomniane trzy filmy to w zasadzie jedyne, które można potraktować jako dużych zwycięzców tej gali. Dune w reżyserii Denisa Villeneuvue, otrzymała najwięcej nagród bo aż sześć z dziesięciu kategorii, w których była nominowana. CODA oraz The Eyes of Tammy Faye otrzymały kolejno trzy i dwie statuetki będąc nominowanym odpowiednio tyle samo razy. To właśnie sukces filmu CODA, czyli wyreżyserowanej przez amerykankę Sian Heder produkcji opowiadającej o rodzinie głuchoniemych, okazał się największym zaskoczeniem! Nie dość, że film ten otrzymał wyróżnienie w najważniejszej kategorii to dodatkowo otrzymał statuetkę dla Najlepszego Aktora Drugoplanowego - Troya Kotsura i za Najlepszy Scenariusz Oryginalny autorstwa reżyserki filmu - Sian Heder.
Mimo, aż dwunastu nominacji tylko raz wyróżniono film The Power of the Dog za pracę reżyserki Jane Campion. Trzy inne głośne filmy, z dużą liczbą nominacji otrzymały tylko po jednej statuetce. Belfast i West Side Story z siedmiu nominacji wypełniły tylko po jednej z nich, kolejno za Najlepszy Scenariusz Oryginalny dla Kennetha Branagha oraz dla Arianny DeBose jako Najlepszej Aktorki Drugoplanowej. Sześć nominacji dla King Richarda już przed galą było uznawane za duże zaskoczenie, a zwycięstwo Willa Smitha jako Najlepszego Aktora Pierwszoplanowego tylko przedłużyło tę serię.
